How to get there?
Bario and Bakelalan are encased in the heart of Borneo and accessible by Twin Otter planes operated by MASWings. The only other alternative access to Bakelalan is a 4 to 5-hour 4WD ride through winding logging tracks from Lawas town. MASWings flies daily to Bario from Miri and three times weekly to Ba Kelalan from Miri (Wednesdays) and via Lawas (Mondays and Saturdays).

From Kuala Lumpur, you may have two flight options:
Option 1:
Kuala Lumpur - Miri - Lawas - Ba Kelalan
There's a directflight from Miri to Ba Kelalan every Wednesday
Option 2:
Kuala Lumpur - Kota Kinabalu - Lawas - Ba Kelalan
Coach/van
transfers from KK to Lawas and flight or 4x4WD from Lawas to Ba Kelalan

Getting to Mount Murud (Mileage/Hrs) - click to view
There are two main trails leading up to the mountain. From Lawas or Ba Kelalan, you can take a 4WD ride to Lepo Bunga shelter where the trail starts. Alternatively, if you come from Bario, you can trek to Pa Lungan village and begin your journey from the Long Repung shelter.

Porter Service
Porters are available to carry your things from Ba Kelalan OR Lepo Bunga chargeable at standard rates per kilogram. Please ensure that you bring adequate rain cover/poncho or plastic wrap to cover your bag from the rain or mud.
